I have been training, instructing, and competing in obedience for over 25 years. I offer all levels of training, from puppy basics up through advanced/competitive. I offer private instruction ONLY, as I believe in giving my clients the BEST I possibly can. Dogs are all different, and there are many training methods to teach the same principles. My job is to get to know your dog and what methods will inspire him to learn. Why would you choose a cookie-cutter method group class somewhere, in a chaotic, stressful environment? You and your dog deserve one-on-one, personal attention and instruction, in the comfort of your own home!
Growing up, I was the kid who dragged home all the strays, and truth be known, have never quite outgrown the tendency. Dogs are not "fur babies", or "four-legged children." They are dogs...wonderful, unique creatures by God's divine design. Their needs, perspectives, reactions, and drives are not that of human beings. Therefore, to enjoy a rewarding relationship with them, we must learn to speak DOG. My job is to do just that. I HELP DOGS TRAIN THEIR PEOPLE.
Nearly every dog alive will make efforts to please its owner, IF the dog has an understanding of what it is the owner wants/doesn't want in regard to behavior. As a trainer, I teach owners how to read their dogs, identify the reasons causing behaviors, and how to clearly communicate to the dog what is desired. Timing, tone of voice, and body language are essential tools I teach owners how to use, along with various types of collars and training aides, appropriate for each individual dog. Praise and some food reward, along with fair, consistent correction, make for the perfect balance when training.
